Academic support services such as supplemental instruction and tutoring continue to grow in the number of courses and students served as well as impact on student achievement.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/scholarsacademy.mtsu.edu\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/scholarsacademy.mtsu.edu\/\">Scholars Academy<\/a>, an intensive two-week bridge program for entering freshmen, was joined in 2019 by the one-week Student Transition and Academic Readiness (STAR) program offering leadership training, service learning, and team building opportunities as well as a jump start on the college experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All degree programs and lifelong learning depend on a firm foundation of core knowledge and skills. The first students in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsunews.com\/first-applied-leadership-certificates\/\">Applied Leadership intensive programs<\/a>\u00a0developed for Bridgestone Americas received their certificates in 2017. In 2018, industry partner\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsunews.com\/board-of-trustees-june2018\/\">Siemens<\/a>\u00a0donated $278 million in computer-aided design software to the fast-growing Mechatronics Engineering program. A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsunews.com\/three-winners-ntc-awards-2020\/\">Tourism and Hospitality Management<\/a>\u00a0major, established in 2019, matches University faculty expertise and student talent to the region\u2019s dynamic tourism industry from parks to hotels. Collaboration between Computer Science, Mathematical Sciences, and Information Systems departments in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/datascience.mtsu.edu\/institute\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/datascience.mtsu.edu\/institute\/\">Data Science Institute<\/a>\u00a0led to the creation of an undergraduate degree and a graduate certificate. For example, the Office of Compliance and Risk Management monitors how the University follows state law when providing access to its records while also protecting students\u2019 rights to privacy as required by federal law. In 2018, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Planning, and Research began using\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/iepr.mtsu.edu\/bi\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/iepr.mtsu.edu\/bi\">PowerBI dashboards<\/a>\u00a0to share enrollment, retention, and graduation data with on- and off-campus stakeholders. Faculty and academic administrators use Curriculog to propose, revise, and review courses and programs. Advisors, students, faculty, and Records Office staff use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentsuccess.mtsu.edu\/navigatesupport\/\">Navigate<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/degreeworks\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/degreeworks\/\">DegreeWorks<\/a>\u00a0to share real-time information about program requirements and degree completion. Campus Labs software helps academic and administrative units monitor their institutional effectiveness while dynamic forms and electronic workflow have sped up many academic,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/boffice.mtsu.edu\/accounts-payable\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/boffice.mtsu.edu\/accounts-payable\/\">business<\/a>, and human resources processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Revised procedures have increased efficiencies in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/one-stop\/\">MT One Stop<\/a>, resulting in a decrease of average wait times for students seeking financial aid and enrollment services from just under 11 minutes in 2015 to an average wait of just over 2 minutes in 2019-2020. Email inquiries to the MT One Stop are responded to within 24 hours.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Financial Aid and Enrollment Technical Services serve on a TBR task force to create an automated system connecting Banner and D2L.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mtsu-blocks-expandable-item accordion-item expandable-heading expandable-heading-lightblock\"><h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"headingcontinuously-enhances-its-informational-physical-and-technological-infrastructure\"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapsenewExpandablecontinuously-enhances-its-informational-physical-and-technological-infrastructure\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsenewExpandablecontinuously-enhances-its-informational-physical-and-technological-infrastructure\">Continuously enhances its informational, physical, and technological infrastructure<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"collapsenewExpandablecontinuously-enhances-its-informational-physical-and-technological-infrastructure\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse expandable-content expandable-content-lightblock\" aria-labelledby=\"headingcontinuously-enhances-its-informational-physical-and-technological-infrastructure\" data-bs-parent=\"#newExpandable\"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/library.mtsu.edu\/home\">James E. Walker Library<\/a>&nbsp;is a major hub of university life. The numerical equivalent of the entire student body comes through its doors every three to four days to access information resources, individual and collaborative study spaces, technology services, and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/library.mtsu.edu\/technology\/makerspace\">MakerSpace<\/a>. Its 2015-2020 strategic plan dedicated the Library to advancing the Academic Master Plan\u2019s strategic directions through initiatives such as information literacy programming, digital scholarship, and a widening array of electronic journals, books, media, and databases that promote academic engagement and community on and off-campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MTSU\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/campusplanning\/master\/\">Campus Master Plan<\/a>&nbsp;brings new enhancements to the physical infrastructure each year, from rotaries that move traffic more efficiently through major intersections to student parking garages to building improvements. Renovations to the Wiser-Patten and Davis Science buildings, completed in 2016, completed one end of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsunews.com\/davis-wiser-patten-reopen\/\">science innovation corridor<\/a>&nbsp;that stretches past the 2014 Science Building toward the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsunews.com\/breaking-ground-on-concrete-construction-building-spring21\/\">Concrete and Construction Management building<\/a>. The College of Behavioral and Health Sciences moved into its own cutting-edge building in Summer 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cee.mtsu.edu\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/cee.mtsu.edu\/\">Sustainable Campus Fee Project Applications &#8211; Fall 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mtsu-blocks-expandable-item accordion-item expandable-heading expandable-heading-lightblock\"><h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"headingworks-to-ensure-a-welcoming-inclusive-campus-that-is-healthy-and-safe-for-all-university-publics\"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapsenewExpandableworks-to-ensure-a-welcoming-inclusive-campus-that-is-healthy-and-safe-for-all-university-publics\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsenewExpandableworks-to-ensure-a-welcoming-inclusive-campus-that-is-healthy-and-safe-for-all-university-publics\">Works to ensure a welcoming, inclusive campus that is healthy and safe for all University publics<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"collapsenewExpandableworks-to-ensure-a-welcoming-inclusive-campus-that-is-healthy-and-safe-for-all-university-publics\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse expandable-content expandable-content-lightblock\" aria-labelledby=\"headingworks-to-ensure-a-welcoming-inclusive-campus-that-is-healthy-and-safe-for-all-university-publics\" data-bs-parent=\"#newExpandable\"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>One of the most visible recent efforts to create an inviting campus landscape has been the renovation of Middle 乐播传媒入口 Boulevard. This $18.2 million project, funded by the federal government, the City of Murfreesboro, and MTSU, built handsome entrances to campus and enhanced landscaping along the major roadway shared by the University and Murfreesboro neighbors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2016,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsunews.com\/mtsu-among-safest-large-universities\/\">College Choice named MTSU as one of the &#8220;Top 50 Safest Large Universities in the US<\/a>.&#8221; The University\u2019s commitment to student safety has continued with the installation of additional campus lighting and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/police.mtsu.edu\/EmergencyCallBox\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/police.mtsu.edu\/EmergencyCallBox\/\">emergency call boxes<\/a>. To further protect and empower students, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/powerof1.mtsu.edu\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/powerof1.mtsu.edu\/\">Power of One<\/a>\u00a0initiative seeks to end gender-based violence and increase students\u2019 confidence to speak up when they see a lack of inclusion. This collaborative effort between multiple units in Student Affairs and student organizations, the University police department, the Title IX Coordinator\u2019s office, and the community\u2019s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center, is funded by a $300,000 federal grant secured with assistance from the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. In 2019, the MTSU Police Department earned\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MTSUPolice\/posts\/on-saturday-may-4-2019-members-from-our-department-appeared-before-the-commissio\/10157086289607719\/\">accreditation<\/a>\u00a0by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, \u201cthe gold standard in public safety.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Beginning Fall 2020, Parking Services gated three (3) parking lots and close them between 4:30pm and 6:30pm for evening faculty\/staff permitted decal entry only.
