These resources include Canvas-provided tools, MTSU-specific support, and external options to facilitate learning and course management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Don&#8217;t have a class to look at and see what Canvas is like?<\/strong> You can <a href=\"https:\/\/mtsu.instructure.com\/enroll\/FWLYPE\">self-enroll in a sample course<\/a> called Getting to Know Canvas &#8211; Student Edition. <em>This course is a sample course only and is not associated with any academic courses. <\/em>This will allow you to view a course through the web and\/or the Canvas Student Mobile Student&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download and install the <strong>Canvas Student<\/strong> app (developed by Instructure).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Logging In &amp; Accessing the MTSU Account<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list is-style-compact-list\">\n<li>Open the Canvas Student app.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use a QR code to access Canvas for MTSU\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select the <strong>QR Code<\/strong> link at the bottom of the app screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access your account on a web browser, select the <strong>Account <\/strong>icon in the global navigation bar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <strong>QR for Mobile Login<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A warning message about sharing the QR code will appear. Do not share this QR code; it connects directly to your account. Click <strong>Proceed.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scan the QR code<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It will take you into your MTSU Canvas account.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manually enter the information:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tap <strong>Find my school<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter <strong>MTSU <\/strong>and select<strong> ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú (MTSU) <\/strong>from the list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log in using your MTSU credentials (username and password).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mtsu-blocks-expandable-item accordion-item expandable-heading expandable-heading-lightblock\"><h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"headingfinding-my-courses\"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapsenewExpandablefinding-my-courses\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsenewExpandablefinding-my-courses\">Finding my Courses<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"collapsenewExpandablefinding-my-courses\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse expandable-content expandable-content-lightblock\" aria-labelledby=\"headingfinding-my-courses\" data-bs-parent=\"#newExpandable\"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>When you enter Canvas, it will take you to your <strong>Dashboard <\/strong>area. This is unique to each person and shows the <strong>Global Navigation Menu<\/strong> (on the left), the courses you have access to, and a To Do list to the right of the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-compact-list\">\n<li>You can also select the <strong>Courses <\/strong>option on the global navigation menu to see your courses from anywhere in the system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select a <em>course card<\/em> to enter the course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mtsu-blocks-expandable-item accordion-item expandable-heading expandable-heading-lightblock\"><h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"headingcanvas-dashboard\"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapsenewExpandablecanvas-dashboard\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsenewExpandablecanvas-dashboard\">Canvas Dashboard<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"collapsenewExpandablecanvas-dashboard\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse expandable-content expandable-content-lightblock\" aria-labelledby=\"headingcanvas-dashboard\" data-bs-parent=\"#newExpandable\"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>The Canvas Dashboard is the main landing page in Canvas. It also has icons that show when there are new course announcements, assignments, or discussions. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>To-Do List <\/strong>&#8211; shows upcoming assignments, discussions, and other activities that require your attention.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recent Feedback<\/strong> &#8211; shows recent feedback on assessments that have been posted in your courses.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Below the Recent Feedback, there is a <strong>View Grades<\/strong> button [not visible in the image above] that will allow you to go to a page with all the courses you are taking, and you can see your current grade. You can change the default settings by updating your own notification settings. This can be done through a web browser or through the Canvas Student App on your phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From a web browser:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list is-style-compact-list\">\n<li>Go to your&nbsp;<strong>Account&nbsp;<\/strong>in the global navigation bar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Notifications<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can select to update the notifications for your entire account or for a specific class by using the&nbsp;<strong>Settings for&nbsp;<\/strong>drop-down.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under the&nbsp;<strong>Email notifications<\/strong>&nbsp;column, you can choose to&nbsp;<em>Notify immediately, Daily summary, Weekly summary<\/em>, or&nbsp;<em>Notifications off<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under the&nbsp;<strong>Push Notifications<\/strong>&nbsp;column, you can select&nbsp;<em>Notify immediately<\/em>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<em>Notifications off<\/em>.&nbsp;<br><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>&nbsp;<em>The default settings have some of the Push notifications set to a Daily summary, but once you update this, you will no longer have that option.<\/em><br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From the Canvas Student App:&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list is-style-compact-list\">\n<li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>Hamburger icon<\/strong>&nbsp;(three lines)&nbsp;in the upper left to expand your account info, select<strong>&nbsp;Settings.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose&nbsp;<strong>Push Notifications<\/strong>&nbsp;to set up the notifications on your phone. Toggle the options on or off.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose&nbsp;<strong>Email Notifications&nbsp;<\/strong>to set up notifications that are sent to your email. You can change the color of the course card and add a nickname for the course that appears to you in your Dashboard and when you look at the Courses menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Change the Color<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The color chosen for a course is also used in the calendar and To Do list to visually show which course the item is associated with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-compact-list\">\n<li>Select the <strong>three-dot menu<\/strong> in the upper-right of the course card.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select a color from the list or enter a hex color code.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Apply<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Add a Nickname<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This option could be helpful if you want to show the course details instead of the entire name of the course in your view.
