Remember to add a password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reserve a classroom space for your proctored activity with computers or request your students bring laptops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notify your students through email, announcements, and syllabus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide your&nbsp;students with detailed information on your proctored activity (method, date, time, location, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remind your students that they must present a photo I.D.&nbsp;when they take your activity. If an ID is not produced, the student will forfeit the opportunity to take the proctored activity.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Early in the semester, reserve a room for your proctored activity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To avoid high-demand times (during mid-terms and finals), consider scheduling your proctored activity at other times during the semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the space has been reserved\/scheduled, notify your students immediately via email, announcements, discussion posting, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The course instructor must be present for the proctored activity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inform students of the consequences of a missed activity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Faculty can consider working with other faculty to proctor each other\u2019s activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Option 3: Proctoring by the course instructor via videoconference (Zoom, Teams, etc.) (no cost to students)<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructor Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create the activity in Canvas. Remember to add a password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notify your students through email, announcements, and syllabus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide your&nbsp;students with detailed information on your proctored activity (method, date, time, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remind your students that they must present a photo I.D.&nbsp;when they take your activity. If an ID is not produced, the student will forfeit the opportunity to earn a grade for the proctored activity.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet for live proctoring during exams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instruct students to position their cameras to show their workspace and screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MTSU Online recommends using groups no larger than five students per session so the proctor(s) can adequately monitor the students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Option 4. Using the MTSU Testing Center (no cost to students)<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructor and Student Procedures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The student schedules a test time with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/testing.mtsu.edu\/online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the MTSU Testing Center<\/a>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/testing.mtsu.edu\/online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">form for scheduling the test time<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student contacts the instructor with the date\/time they are scheduled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The instructor contacts the Testing Center and provides them with&nbsp;the information below about the proctored activity.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Course (course name and section(s))<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exam duration (i.e., 90 minutes, 2 hours, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exam dates (i.e., 9\/3-9\/6)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exam password. (Do not give the password to students).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any material that will be allowed during the exam<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instructor contact information (in the event the testing center needs to contact you)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student will complete the proctored activity at the testing center under the supervision of a certified proctor.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Option 5. Using an approved off-site testing center (for a fee)<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is the student\u2019s responsibility to arrange for the proctored exam to be held at an approved testing site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students can review testing centers in the USA at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ncta.memberclicks.net\/find-a-proctor-in-the-united-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NCTA, National College Testing Association&nbsp;Proctoring Network<\/a>. The purpose of the NPN is to make testing services available to students away from their campuses. There may be additional locations not on this list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the student locates an off campus proctor, they should visit the MTSU Testing Center website and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/testing.mtsu.edu\/online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complete this form to schedule an off campus proctor.&nbsp;<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Instructor creates the activity in Canvas.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A minimum of 15 days in advance of the proctored activity, the student should schedule the proctored activity and provide the necessary contact information to the instructor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proctored activities that take place outside of the classroom environment&nbsp;<strong><u>must<\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;be password protected.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The instructor will make the password available to the testing center administrator or proctor (not to the student) prior to the proctored activity date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Additional Alternative Proctoring Methods<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Loaner Laptops or Equipment Access \u2013 (Contact the MTSU Library for more information).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Library or Community Resources&nbsp;\u2013 If students are near a public library or community center, they may have access to computers that support proctoring software.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Local College or University Partnerships&nbsp;\u2013 Some institutions allow visiting students to use their testing centers or computer labs.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Flexible Testing Options&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Alternative Assessments&nbsp;\u2013 Consider alternative assessments such as open-book projects, oral exams, or written assignments.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Partnerships with Local Organizations&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Public Libraries&nbsp;\u2013 Many libraries have computers available for public use, and some offer private rooms that could be used for proctored exams.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Community Colleges or Universities&nbsp;\u2013 Even if students are not enrolled, local institutions may allow them to use their computer labs or testing centers.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Workforce Development Centers&nbsp;\u2013 Some state or local job training centers have computer labs that may be available for student use.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Employer-Based Testing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>If a student is employed, some workplaces may allow them to take an exam using a company computer in a private setting. This is especially helpful for students in professional or technical fields.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Proctoring at Military or Government Facilities&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>If students are active military, many bases offer proctoring services.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>6.
