Explore the options below to find the approach that best fits your course, your students, and the type of assessment you are administering.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Using ProctorU? Remember to add a password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reserve a classroom space for your proctored activity with computers or request your students bring laptops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notify your students through email, announcements, and syllabus with detailed information on your proctored activity (method, date, time, location, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remind your students that they must present a photo I.D.&nbsp;when taking the exam. If an ID is not produced, the student will forfeit the opportunity to earn a grade for the proctored activity.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet for live proctoring during exams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instruct students to position their cameras to show their workspace and screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Best Practice: proctor groups no larger than five students per session so the proctor(s) can adequately monitor the students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Students using the Testing Center<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MTSU offers several ways to provide secure and effective proctoring for exams and other assessments. The Campus Testing Center is a valuable resource, but its limited space means it <strong>cannot<\/strong> accommodate large numbers of course exams each semester.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faculty are encouraged to select the proctoring option that best fits their course and assessment needs. The Testing Center is primarily intended to support students with approved testing accommodations, students who need a make-up or missed exam, and situations where other proctoring options are not available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For fully online courses, we encourage faculty to use a fully online proctoring option whenever possible. This provides students with a convenient way to complete their exams without requiring them to travel to campus and helps preserve Testing Center space for students who need it most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before scheduling an exam at the Campus Testing Center, please consider whether another proctoring option may be a better fit for your course and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/testing.mtsu.edu\/online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Review the testing center webpage for more information and instructions.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Additional Alternative Proctoring Methods<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. If students are near a public library or community center, they may have access to computers that support proctoring software.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Local College or University Partnerships. Some institutions allow visiting students to use their testing centers or computer labs.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Flexible Testing Options&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Alternative Assessments- Consider alternative assessments such as open-book projects, oral exams, or written assignments.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Partnerships with Local Organizations&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-compact-list\">\n<li>Public Libraries- Many libraries have computers available for public use, and some offer private rooms that could be used for proctored exams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workforce Development Centers- Some state or local job training centers have computer labs that may be available for student use.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. Employer-Based Testing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If a student is employed, some workplaces may allow them to take an exam using a company computer in a private setting. This is especially helpful for students in professional or technical fields.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5.
