This table assists chairs and faculty course developers as they plan their new online courses. Additional resources include the Registrar’s course types page<\/a>, and the MTSU Online course proposal and development process<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students cannot be penalized for non-attendance.

A good practice would be to record and share any optional virtual meetings.

Synchronous Flex<\/strong><\/td>Simultaneous delivery via synchronous online (videoconference) and synchronous on-ground (with the instructor in a classroom).<\/td>Required on-ground or synchronous online meetings during standard scheduled meeting times. 

The instructor must hold synchronous meetings at least once per week.

The student can choose from session to session whether to attend on-ground or synchronous online (via video). 

Students choose to meet in either format throughout the semester based on their needs.

If proctored exams are required, that must be listed in the course schedule and the registration notes.<\/td>		Distance Education Fee applies\u202f

Instruction will be synchronous, meaning students will participate in instruction sessions on the assigned days and times of the course, just as they would with an on-ground course.
