Financial Aid
Consortium Agreements (Studying at another school)
Many MTSU students are interested in taking one or more classes at another college or university for a Fall, Spring, or Summer semester. The MTSU Financial Aid Office may provide aid (as the Home Institution) to eligible MTSU students through the use of individual consortium agreements. A consortium agreement is a written agreement between two institutions for the purpose of administering student financial aid. The Home Institution is the school granting the student鈥檚 degree and paying the student鈥檚 financial aid. The Host Institution is the school where the student is enrolled as a transient student for coursework. With a Consortium Agreement in place, courses at each school (HOME and HOST) may be combined to determine maximum aid eligibility.
A Consortium Agreement must be initiated within 14 calendar days from the beginning of the semester for which a Consortium Agreement is being requested. The Consortium Agreement must then be fully in place within 21 calendar days from the beginning of the semester for which a Consortium Agreement is being requested. (Exceptions may apply and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
Students are required to be enrolled at both MTSU and the HOST institution during the Consortium semester.
Students interested in a Consortium Agreement should contact the Financial Aid Office to receive more information about additional eligibility requirements and the process.
